What should I wear to practice yoga?
Come dressed in clothes you can move in but avoid baggy clothes as they obscure alignment. Bare feet are essential. No perfume. No heavy jewelry.
What about eating and drinking before coming to yoga?
Come to yoga on an empty stomach. Allow at least two hours for digestion before coming to class and one hour for fluids. Do not consume alcohol for the entire day before practice.
What if I have special physical needs?
Be sure to let the teacher know about any injuries you may have—including any physical problems or medical conditions. The teacher wil recommend modifications based upon your conditions.
What time should I arrive?
Arrive before class as it is disruptive and unsafe (the class begins with preparatory asanas for what follows) to come late. It is prudent to arrive at least ten to fifteen minutes early for some light stretching.
What if I have never practiced yoga before?
Tell the instructor. You are welcome to come to HUY no matter your level of experience is. The instructor will recommend modifications to poses and work with you to ensure you are comfortable in your practice.
Do I need my own yoga mat?
Mats are available at the practice site. If you are serious about yoga it is best to purchase your own mat. They only cost about $15.
