OPEN HOUSE ON JULY 5TH! (We will be closed July 4th)
Members and the general public may attend free on Sunday, July 5th, from 3 to 5 pm. We will begin with a very brief (10-minute) 7-step T’ai chi practice and continue with an hour of yoga practice from 3:15-4:15 pm, followed by Indian breads and tea afterwards. [This program will replace the regularly scheduled Vinyassa class]
T’ai Chi is coming permanently beginning July 18, 2009 from 9:30 to 10:20 am. East-West will run from 10:40 to 11:40 and Gentle will run from 12:00 to 1:00 on Saturdays.
Be alert for sudden cancellations of John’s classes for two days sometime during the next three weeks (25 June-15 July) as the moment for the birth of his grandson nears. Check this website regularly for last minute cancellations.
There will be a temporary closure of Studio II while the basement is being finished effective June 26. Level II classes will be cancelled and the Saturday Ashtanga class will take place in Studio I until further notice.

What is East-West Yoga? It is a Western interpretation of traditional Hatha yoga, in which the practitioners work to develop the physical, mental, ethical and spiritual capabilities of the eight limbs of yoga. Stylistically the asanas (poses) are a blend of Iyengar (form), Ashtanga (power), and Vinyasa (flow) yoga.
East-West Yoga is an exclusive studio with limited memberships. There are 5 levels of memberships and more than 20 classes a week to choose from. Click Here to go to the registration pages. We accept drop-ins as well–currently our drop-in rate is $8.
Where is East-West Yoga? It is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia close to (behind) the mall east of I-81. The exact location is 315 Lucy Drive. Lucy Drive runs parallel to Neff Avenue between Reservoir and Evelyn Byrd Avenue.
What facilities does the studio have? East-West Yoga has over 2000 square feet of studio space in Studio I and 1300 square feet in Studio II. The interior design is warm and exquisite and the décor is authentic Indic. Both studios are fully equipped with all of the necessary yoga props—blankets, bolsters, benches, specialty chairs and more. There are separate dressing and bath rooms for men and women, and a wet bar and kitchen for membership gatherings and events. All of the facilities are handicap accessible.
